There are so many moments that days hold here that add up and overflow i can’t even capture all that goes on here.
Right now I lay in the bed listening to a thunderstorm outside. It is pouring down rain. Light on the thunder but lots of rain. And I think back to this time last week.
Last Thursday night I was sorting through what I would share for big circle. Our morning devotional on Fridays at 6am for the entire campus. From 4 on up. About 500 people. No big. Found out Wednesday night that I had been placed on the staff list to share. I’m grateful I had that much notice.
So I decided to share about Noah. Everybody knows the story. They made a movie about it so I’ve heard. But imagine with me…
You ask God to speak to you. Sometimes we beg Him to speak. And then he tells is something that sounds crazy. Like um, build an ark. I don’t know about you but it says Noah was 500 when he had his sons then 600 when he got in the ark. He was old. And he was old enough to know that was a little crazy. But as the old and New Testament point out he was faithful. And he obeyed.
And it rained for 40 days and nights. We complain about a half day of rain…. Imagine. FORTY days AND nights. With stinky animals. Pooping and peeing animals. And you can’t really open the windows. It’s raining.
And did I mention they were in the ark about a YEAR total? Imagine being trapped in a gym with a bunch of animals and your family. No where to go. Oh and it’s probably a little wet. And it rocks and rolls in the water. And it stinks.
Change your perspective on begging God to speak to you? Would you be obedient to all that? The Noah song makes it sound cute. It was nuts. And stinky. And hot.
But you know what? Noah was faithful to a Faithful and amazing God. Our God. My God. And it was for Noah’s benefit. His family’s and for his salvation and provision. And here we are talking about him all This time later.
Kinda makes me wanna be a little crazy. As long as God says to be.
And I finished with Joshua 1:5. We all know Joshua 1:9. But 1:5- he is faithful. He never leaves. Never. Noah knew that. And trusted it.
May we all hear his voice. And do what he says. Even if we don’t understand. Let’s do some crazy stuff that glorifies God.
Be His.
