Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

Arrived safely to Honduras before noon yesterday.  Let's just chat for a minute about how I failed to think things through…which is so unlike me!

First off I only packed my suitcase and one duffle bag that wasn't even entirely full.  I just couldn't think of anything else I needed to bring.  I limited my clothes because I didn't know how much space I would have.  And a lot of things were sent in my bins April 6 that finally left the Mobile port on May 7…and will arrive here who knows when.

I got to the airport- it is lunch time.  Immigration line is long.  I am in the back of it.  I am hungry.  and What do I have packed in my carry on bag as far as snacks, food…nothing.  Are you kidding me?! That is a first.  can't believe it! Such a rookie move.

I met up with an Auburn student from  KY who is going to be here for the next month.  She almost didn't make the flight because her flight from KY was delayed.  She literally ran onto the plane.  We met up with Norman and he brought us the 2ish hours out to the orphanage.  Thought on the way- there are pine trees here.  DIdn't expect that.

Found out yesterday I will be working with Amelia in the office doing sponsorship stuff and I don't know what else.  I don't know what size kids I will be working with in the morning and evening until tomorrow.  Took a walking tour of the children area of the Orphanage.  It's about a third bigger than i thought.  And did I mention I had packed all my nice breathable pants so I wore Jeans on the plane? and when I got to OE it was like 85+?  Needless to say jeans will not be on my body again for any foreseeable time.

And realized last night i have a tiny bottle of contact solution- rest on a ship.  Lol.  Thankfully there is a stockpile of things people have left here for community use.  Eventually I will get it all together.

This morning I spent time with the "Medium" Girls.  Girls middle school and a little younger.  They have devotional circle time before school.  Then I headed to the school to sit in on Amy's reading circle class.  5-6 kids at a time come to the little library and she works on reading and comprehension.  And some kids are in basic reading.  It was good to just sit and read and listen to spanish.  Amy has a great heart for these kids to learn and to love the Lord.  Her goal is to have the library set up with volunteers to let kids come in and read books at leisure since they cannot take them to their houses.  She's looking for chapter books she can use in her classes 7-9 copies of Spanish versions of things along the lines of Junie B or other interesting books.  Today was a book about a boy who has had bad dreams about vampires and he and his buddy are dressed in black and look like spies to somehow do something to get rid of his dreams.  I couldn't understand because I just don't know enough espanol.  (imagine that).

Went to town and bought a few things.  There was a recent shipment here and there is a ton of junk food- swedish fish, ramen noodles, cookies, and who knows what else.  So I didn't buy much because I eat with the kids and don't need junk.  I got internet!! whahoo.  So I can imessage and facetime when my computer is up and running.  yah.

Couple of things in the prayer related world-

I don't know that I blogged the request for no motion sickness but it's always been a request.  Never have been motion sick overseas.  Sort of one time only.  Well yesterday all the way here I felt fine.  Answer to prayer that I forgot to even ask myself!

Woke up this morning with my neck and shoulder hurting.  Not good.  When that gets really messed up all bets are off for days.  Found out the foam mattress is held up by wood slats.  There was 2 places that there was a 3-4 inch gap between them.  Soooooo THAT is why my back felt like a board was in my back! Fixed. And my hands and feet have been very swollen.  I think it was so little fluid intake yesterday and the ramen noodles last night.  Been working hard on drinking water a lot.  My walk to town with my cankles in my chacos rubbed 3 blisters on my feet.  My fat feet are now happily wrapped in socks and my tennis shoes until further notice:) Welcome to almost 39 I guess.

(My friend Tammy is convinced that I indeed got married and am with child and run out of the country.  Running joke from the gathering…there was a wedding sign and pink and white ballons for a wedding this weekend that coincidentally was at every single turn to the road to the cabin.  Folks were wondering what was the REAL reason for my gathering… hahaha NO.)

Anyway…some photos from yesterday and today.

My first snack I grabbed out of the community pile.

Yes.  That says Alabama.  A dad gum Roll Tide moon pie.  And guess what the kids had with their oatmeal this morning for breakfast? A double decker moonpie.  I ate it and decided that's the last time for that.

I have photos of the surrounding but they dont make much sense.  will do a panoramic tomorrow that I can lay out for you.

Life is good.  Learning is a curve.  God is good.  More on that tomorrow.

Grateful for the prayers.  So grateful.  Blessings to ya'll.  Im going to go take a shower.  Im a little sweatyish. (That's how we roll in TheRas. 🙂
