Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

Yes.  That was a quote from the Famous Ansley.  Love that kid.

We had our Spring camping trip to Stone Mountain a couple of weekends ago.  New addition to the party was the Dad-Scott.  And we had a traveler with us.  Seems that our music ministers ceramic/resin UGA dawg wandered off the front porch of his residence.  He heard we were headed to GA and wanted a road trip.   We obliged.  His twitter is @unattendeddawg or #unattended_dawg.  His twitter has been mighty quiet.  I hope he is okay.

On with the weekend.

Stop at the Georgia line.  I don't think I have ever done this.

We encountered the Sons of Confederate Veterans get together.  About 50 drove past us as we walked down a side street to the memorial lawn and parked.  Some guys were dressed in Civil War clothes.  And there was cannon fire on the lawn.  I think they read
STONE MTN April 2013 - 1264off names of members who have died in the past year.  We arrived late to the festivities so we missed most of it.  I have never heard a crowd sing the Dixie Song so loud and reverently in all my days.

We did the trip up the mountain. The Ansley and AA picture of course.  It was windy.

And the Easter Bunny was still hanging around.  And the April Fool was there too.  Literally.  Her cute jacket had "FOOL" written on it.

And the girls were excited to get their favorite thing- Dippin Dots.  I think they equate Stone Mountain with Dippin Dots.  IMG_3104

And I have NEVER seen this.  What a pose.  He was reading some book.  Looked like a How to and I swear it said something like Power lifting.  Or something.  Folks were giving him the staredown.  Fun times on the mountain.

And of Course we rode the train.  Really nice train conductor took our picture in front of the train.  He said he liked our dawg.  And laughed when we told him he was on loan. STONE MTN April 2013 - 1295

We camped.  And as always there has to be some sort of campground drama.  I sold my tent and sleeping bag and I miscommunicated with my sister so I was sleeping in my hammock with a sleeping bag liner and picnic blanket over top.  Hand warmers all over.  Snug as a bug on a 55 degree or less night. This was when Ansley and I were in the hammock and she decided to hide while waiting for Laura to pick up Brynn and Scott and bring them back.  Cute thing.

Then the spanish speaking college students returned after midnight.  And were not quiet.  No siree they were not.  I guess it is the Lord warming me up for Honduras.  I told myself if I got up to go to the car for my earplugs that were in my bag or to find the park police number I would sleep in my car.  This is what I saw when I woke up.

And we finally got to Ride the Ducks.  It's a boat meets bus that gives some history of Stone Mtn. and takes you into their lake.  With duck whistle/calls and fun music.  The lady that drove us around was funny and a bus driver during the week for school kids.  She let every kid take a turn driving the boat in the lake.  I don't have pics of Brynn because her Dad went with her.  I asked Ansley if she was going to take a turn and she said with some concern in her voice "But I don't know HOW to drive it."  When she saw the three year old boy come back to his seat after his turn she decided she was in.  She loved it.  Came down the aisle back to her seat with her hands clenched and shaking her fists overhead in victory.

And we met Santa.  He drives the Ride the Ducks in the off season.  His name is John.  The girls were in awe.

And Ansley shared with me why she had smores on her face.  She said 'Well a ghost came or something and put smores on my face."  Yep.  Sure.

And of Course the Laser Light show with fireworks.  IMG_3167

Then the trip home to a Sunday afternoon full of rain.  Good trip.  Great last camping trip.  I fully intend to do Stone Mtn Christmas when I come home.  Nothing says Christmas like a trip on the train and praying for no lost children while getting some hot chocolate.
