Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

The 24th is the anniversary of my birth.

This is what I looked like in 1974.  Day one and day 3ish.

Little did my Momma know what trouble my colicky self would be.  I don't know how many times she told me about how much I screamed and cried when I was a baby.  She persevered and didn't do anything drastic, so here I am 38 years later….

This year the anniversary of my birth happened to be my off day.  So I decided to do something random.  I recently discovered that there is a Lego Store (a WHOLE store!) in Birmingham  so I decided that needed to be on the agenda. Trip to the Ham.  Loosely planned agenda.

I started out the morning with a trip to Starbucks to pick up some coffee for Sporty.  I'm a coffee virgin.  I don't drink it.  Don't much like the smell of it.  It smells burnt.  I knew what to order but wasn't really sure other than "Caramel Latte. Medium"  what I might need to know.  So I order (something I didn't even see on the screen) and the girl says something…'umm what?'  "I'll see you at the window!"  Oh good.  Statement. Not question.  Survived my first coffee experience.

CFA for some minis.  Yes.  I eat CFA when I am not at work.  Mini's are my fav.  Sadly Hardees discontinued the cheddar biscuit.  So that comes in second.

Picked up Sista Gurl and Headed to the Ham.  Stopped by my sister's work place to surprise her and say hey since she had to work all day…but no Boogerhead.  She was at the tire place fixing her tire that had a screw in it.  Sad.

Off to Vulcan Park. WE walked through the visitors center then went outside to go up the tower.  We were talking about the light that the Vulcan used to have- it would be green or red.  Red indicated a traffic fatality had occurred.  It wasn't mentioned in the visitor center anywhere.  The lady at the elevator said "yes it is inside."  We went back inside.  Lo and behold we walked past the little sign and missed the huge green light.  Duh.  It was cool to see the city and we watched the childrens hospital helicopter fly around and finally land. If you haven't gone I think you should.  Just for the experience.  The grounds are beautiful.

Then we headed downtown for lunch.  I asked on Facebook where we should eat the day before we left.  Oh wow.  How many wonderful suggestions you had.  And the winner was….

The Fish Market. (shout out to Andrew Westcott for the suggestion).  It was goood stuff.  I had artichoke hearts and shrimp pasta.  Sista got coconut shrimp potato and green beans.  It was good.  I will do it again.  For sho. I was just sad I had taken my little cooler out of my trunk the day before.  I reeeeeally wanted to take home my leftovers.

Then we headed to the Galleria.  To the Lego Store.

That was CLOSED.  There was a fire in the transformer outside behind the store.  The power was still out in 5 stores.  And there was smoke damage to some of the stores- Build a Bear had pulled all their bears and had them bagged up.  I was bummed.  But I will persevere.  I plan to journey back to the Ham to watch Madea with Boogerhead sometime soon.  Lego store will be on the agenda.

Bought a purse- I know.  Gasps of surprise.  And a new wallet.  Made of tyvex.

I picked up the cake I had ordered from The Great American Cookie Company (there is no other cookie company that compares)  I ordered it for my Village party- And it was wrong.  Supposed to be all chocolate icing but the house in the middle.  But I didn't want to wait so we partied on.

We walked out of the mall into the parking lot.  And couldn't find the car.  I am 38 years old.  I have the brain of an early alzhiemers patient evidently.  Found the car.  And then got on the WRONG road to get back to 459.

However, on the way back to the interstate we ran into the Hot Light.  Glory.  Got some hot ones and Sista got 2 dozen for her peeps.  With my 9.99 coupon she got 2 dozen an extra doughnut and a water- for 9.98.  I love Krispy Kreme math.  Even after her clarifying with the girl.  Yep.  Thank you very much.

I secured our sugar stack in the back and headed home.

Stop at the Peach park in Clanton on the way home.  It was a good day. Fabulous company with Sista.  Great conversation and no travel drama.  God is good.

Then the village peeps party happened.  But you'll have to wait til tomorrow for that.  Good things come to those who wait…
