This post really falls in the middle of another longer post but I am going to shorten it and tell it out of order and simply share this. Because It's good. And I know everyone's attention spans are typically about 5 seconds long.
Still with me?
Sunday I was to have approx 25 folks over at the cabin for a BBQ. Alabama Rural Ministries Summer staff and Board members. I had to move 16 chairs and 2 6-8 ft long tables from the Big House garage into my Honda and down to the cabin. I started at 1pmish after church. Cleaned the first load and then it started raining. Like huge crazy 2 inches in an hour there is a tornado watch raining. I waited a few minutes and it didn't slack up. I didn't have much time to spend on waiting. I had to shower, go get the food and get back for the gathering. So I finally sucked it up, got in the car and proceeded to load up a table and chairs in the DOWNPOUR. Needless to say I was soaking wet. My trunk was soaking wet.
I was OVER the rain. Enough.
I got set up, showered, dressed and left to go pick up food. The rain had slowed down and there was a pause while I was getting ready. But as I left the rain was beginning to follow me into Auburn. The sky was dark and Grey all the way to Tuskegee and headed my way.
I literally prayed out loud as I drove to Countrys- "Lord, you made the sun stand STILL. Please I ask that you just make it NOT rain from 530-730 at the cabin. Not selfishly, but to show your power. Well, sort of selfishly. But I promise to tell whomever I can that you made it stop raining for me."
After I loaded up the BBQ it started to rain on me. I had also asked to still the rain til I got the food loaded and unloaded.
As I drove home in the pour down I got to the end of Shell Toomers and looked Left towards where I live and this is what I saw.
My heart leapt in my chest and I sent the picture to Sista Gurl and said "I am claiming that that empty sky is OVER my cabin" and I firmly believed it.
I drove up to the cabin and this is what I saw.
Glory to God in the Highest. He commands the sun, rain and sky. And I am thankful that He chose to answer my prayer "Yes" I unloaded all the food and drinks and didn't get WET. glory.
It wasn't rainless til 730 but for the most part it was less rainy. And my guests didn't have to RUN from their cars through the mud into my cabin.
Good night. Blessings for simple things. And a Big God. Don't ever let anyone tell you He isn't.
