When i went to Stone Mountain last month I went on a Tuesday. Overcast. Not very busy. When I left to go up the mountain the parking lot side I parked on had 4 cars. When I came back there were about 10. And evidently the guy that parked next to me decided that parking 3 spots away was just too far to walk. Before he went up the MOUNTAIN. I love Irony. I find it a lot in America.
And another bit of irony…or "This is how we roll in America"
I was sitting outside the other day just chillin in the beautiful day and saw some neighbors getting ready to get into the car. The husband got in, the kids were already in, and the wife was getting ready to get in. As this little scene unfolded at the end of their driveway a car drove up. The car stopped, then backed up into the road. The car in the road was facing into the driveway so she could see the van and the people. And instead of getting out and walking up to the wife she picked up the phone and called the lady. I know this because I could hear her say "I am soooooo sorry i didnt get to call or text you back yesterday!" And the lady in the car in the street was talking, then turned her car around and drove off as the van backed out and followed behind. I thought it was interesting that the friend didn't get out of the car. There was some time that the friend sat there and waited before she called.
I think sometimes we would rather text and call than have a face to face conversation.
I encourage each of us to talk to other folk.
It's good for the soul. And somebody might just speak a little love, honesty, truth, or encouragement into another.
