I want you to imagine something…Imagine that you live in a home that is approximately 15 feet by 20 feet long, 7 foot roof. There are 7 people living in your home. Your husband left you for the big city and will not return. You have wooden slats for windows, no fireplace, no electricity. You have papyrus fiber woven mats to cover your mud floor. You garden someone else’s land so you can eat and maybe sell some of what you grow. Your children walk a mile round trip to get water to cook with. Your children play together, help with the garden and sometimes play with the neighbor children. They don’t go to school. You simply don’t have the money for the fees, except for one child. You have the money for one child to go to school so you picked one- the 8 year old boy. The other children learn what they can from where ever they can. You can’t teach them because you only went to school for 3 years. You know your children will be living your life when they grow up. Unless you can figure out how to get them to school.
Then you hear that the church you attend is signing up children to send them to school. In a country far away, people have agreed to pay for your child to go to school. They will pay the fees, pay for uniforms, and even get a pair of shoes for your child. You sign up your children and wait. You wait for the day that you get a letter from the church that says someone chose your child to sponsor. Your children now have hope for a better future. Because some Christians in a country far away have blessed you. You are grateful and unsure what to say. But you know that if you ever get to meet these Christians you know they will look like Jesus…
Interested in committing to sponsor a child in Buloba? I need commitments for 300 children before African Renewal Ministries can go to Buloba to begin getting information, pictures, and coordinating sponsorship for our friends in Buloba. Once I tell ARM we have enough people saying YES I want to sponsor a child it will take 4-6 weeks for them to get the children’s info to us. If we had enough people commit tomorrow we could be picking out the child we want to sponsor in 6 weeks!
