Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

So, I have been officially home- in the US for less than 24 hours.  I have had Chick Fil A at a dwarf house, taken a bath in my great tub, slept a long time in my fabulous bed, and am now trying to slog through emails and figure out where to start with all the work I have to do- while laying on the couch at my dad’s, hooked up to his internet, and watching his cable tv.  Meanwhile my friends are in Buloba working in gardens, making bricks, walking on dusty roads, maybe visiting with friends.  I miss them.  I realize I don’t like the "noise" that cable and the internet bring to my life.

This is why I titled my blog today "Ridiculous."  I think it is often ridiculous that God chooses to use me.  Oh wait, I think DAILY it is ridiculous.  I think it is ridiculous that we just flew half way around the world to serve Jesus, only to be served by his people in Uganda.  Ridiculous that we humans often act the way that we do towards one another- the crazy love, the meanness, the laughter, the tears.  Ridiculous that I have a cushy house while my new sister in Christ Zaria packs 10 people in a home that is maybe 10 by 20 feet with smoke covered walls inside from her kerosene lamps.  Ridiculous that I am here and they are there.

I cannot comprehend why God chose me to be where I am- single at almost 34, owner of a car and home, no pets, Children’s Minister for a great church, and missions coordinator for the same.  My heart longs to be out there with people, sweating, serving, laughing and being amazed at the Holy Spirit’s power.  Even when the people frustrate me, even when the need I see breaks my heart so much that I want to quit.  My life is Ridiculous.  I guess that is what Paul was talking about when he said that Christ, God’s work is foolishness to those who don’t believe.   I wouldn’t trade it.  I want to share it.  Because it is life in Christ.  And it is Good.  It is crazy, marvelous, wonderful, amazing, glorious.  Becuase I see Him at work in all of it.  Sweetness. (yep, still looking for the Theasurus).

I will blog about our last day and post some more pictures probably tomorrow.  I am heading back to my home and don’t have internet there, so be patient.

Thanks for letting me ramble.  Just needed to share and since I don’t have a husband or pets, you get to enjoy… : )

I was about to say that ranting on a blog is better than a husband or kids because it won’t talk back to you, but I think I just negated that 🙂
Great post… October will be here before you know it I guess

Wow Andi. I’m with you on all of this. Struggling to get back into this world. Went to Target today and ran a few errands. I’m finding myself getting a little agitated at our world here. Keep missing my friends and wondering what all of them are doing today.
