Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

So my community group has been working on the biblical idea of serving and almost everything that goes with serving.  This year we have been reading a book as well as doing Bible study on it.  The book has been challenging to my heart.  It is very outside anything that is typically church.  Cornerstone is not a typical church, but for this guy, we are the "establishment" if you will.  It has made me question what we do at times, all the planning I sometimes do, and where we are going.  Which leads me to Easter.

I have continually been driving around asking "What can Cornerstone do in our community?  Where can we love on people?"  A few weeks ago I drove down one of the same streets I always do and once again asked "is this the neighborhood?" for what seemed like the 100th time.  I brought it up in my community group- maybe this is a neighborhood we can love on.  Turns out that Lisa, our community group leader, was planning to meet with the pastor of the church down the street from her house and this particular neighborhood.  Turns out that he has begun working in this neighborhood and was interested in our idea of a free Easter Egg party/hunt.

My idea is to simply help this neighborhood church open doors by giving away a little free stuff, get to know some of the people of this neighborhood, love on them, laugh with them, and maybe even be Jesus to them however they need it.  We do not know if we will ever go back to this neighborhood.  We don’t know what this will look like the day after Easter.  We just know we are going to hang out and share what we have.

Which brings me to the title of this blog.  I knew it was coming- someone asked "What do Eggs have to do with Easter and Jesus on the Cross?"  Simply "New Life."  An egg is such a tangible thing that so personifies new life.  If you treat a real egg right- a baby chick will come out.  Or a bird, duck, crocodile, fish, or ostrich, depending on what kind of egg you have.  But the Easter egg is typically a FREE egg- full of goodness.  Sometimes chocolate, sometimes gum, or as one of the kids in KidzTown said Sunday "you can put money in it!"  You just never know.

But I know that Easter brings to my mind New Life.  Because of the death and Victorious Resurrection of our King we have New Life.  A free gift- a free gift that looks new every day! Free gifts can be life changing.

So join us Easter day at 2pm at God’s Glory Ministries on the corner of Pleasant Drive and Bruce St. for Easter eggs, games, and fun.  If you would like to donate eggs or candy- there are cans in the foyer.  Prestuffing your eggs is GREAT.  Have an egg stuffing party with your kids or Community group.  And remember  free gifts can be life changing…
