Sister Girl’s littlest kid- Cooper was asked what he wanted for Christmas. He said a video game or two and that he wanted to buy something for someone else. I believe he said “someone poor” or “someone who won’t have things”. Sorry I can’t remember the exact quote.
As Jennifer and I talked I told her he could pick a kid from Emmanuel’s list and see his name, age, and sizes. So she decided to buy him a WalMart gift card and he could go shopping.
I wasn’t there when he got the card. Nor when he went shopping. But I was there when he brought his things down and one by one picked them out of the bags and showed me each thing.
Shirts and pants and Spider-Man pjs and shoes and a nerf ball. He had such a smile on his face and I had such a smile in my heart. The gift card he received was a good size amount. He could have changed his mind and gone and bought things for himself. Instead he spent it on a 9 year old kid (same age as Coop. That’s why Cooper picked him) named Marlon Josue.
I just got no words for that.
So I brought his things with me back to Emmanuel and just haven’t had time to take them to the small boys house where he lives. Then Sunday my girl Picturi (Marie Magdelena) asked me if her brother could come spend time with her. And his name is Marlon Josue. I double checked with him his last two names and told him I’d be back.
I came back with his bag of things and explained the story of how Cooper asked for a gift he could use to buy Marlon gifts. And how he picked everything out himself. He was grinning so big.
He took everything out one by one and laid them in his lap. Then when he was done carefully folded them and put them back. This was done by him or his sister no less than 4 times that I saw while in the yard. He loved his shoes. And unprompted put them on and wanted a photo for Cooper. And he really really loved the Spider-Man PJs.
I just wanted to share this with you. Cuz is just good. So good.
This is what the #village does. And it’s why I’m so blessed I be a part of it. Jesus.
