Available…for His glory.

available for Him- His purpose, His glory

Today I got to spend my day off with Sista Girl's boys.  Breakfast and gas then headed to their house.  Coop was awake and on the video game.  Then he wandered upstairs where I was working on my grocery list for an upcoming cake situation.  He was watching something on the ipad when I got this look

He wasn't mad.  Just engaged.

We separated ourselves from electronics.  Woke up the sleepin in like a teenager he is not yet Cole and headed to Chick Fil A for lunch.  Yes.  I do eat at CFA for lunch on my days off.  Gratefully we got their before the 40 folks on the charter bus. And during lunch I realized Sweet Cooper misses his momma.  Polynesian sauce and root beer helped a little.  That and the news that her arrival was looming closer by the hour.

I talked to the boys about pool vs the cabin.  The cabin has a creek behind it that the kids love to walk by and throw rocks in and have been dying to get IN the creek.  But typically it is too cold.  Not today.  Although the water was low we creeked it.

Pretty sure it took almost 2 hours to get down the creek and about 15 minutes to get back.  We were adventuring.  And the thunder hurried us back a little bit.  Here's how it went:

Tentatively walking on rocks.  Dry.  Then feet a little wet.

Yes.  The boys like to pose.  Embrace it.

Cool Tree.

Then it happened.  We had stopped to look at fish and another fallen log and As i sat on a rock I looked down and There. It. Was.

A cool big ol Turtle.  We touched it's shell.  He didn't move.  He didn't suck up in his shell.  Someone said "Can we pick him up?"  My reply "sure. go for it"  Um no.  So I tried to.  I really did try.  But he was strong.  And I didn't like his little clawy feet touching my hand.  So Cole manned up and finally got him (her).

Apologies for not knowing turtle anatomy.  And apologies if you don't like your new name Joe.  You're either Jo or Joe.  Take your spelling.

Coop took a turn

Lots of wiping the shell and talking to Joe later we headed down the creek.

And 15 minutes later we found J right where we left it.  And felt it needed some excitement as we loved on it as only children can.

And Joe got tired of being bothered and jetted off from Cooper. It startled all three of us a tad.

Then Cole put him up on a big rock.  And about 3 seconds later as we stood next to that rock Joe stuck his head and feet out and JETTED down that rock smack into the water.  It was magic.  And scared us all to death.  Video sharing amazingness.  So let's do it again.  And while we waited for the mud to settle to find him again…

We wait.  And throw rocks.  And generally chill.  IMG_0633

And we waited.

And then…

Turtle magic. Oh how I wish you could have seen us first time around.  Hollering and laughing and generally freaked out.

On the way home it went like this…

Coop found a tiney baby frog.

Crazy huge freaky spider thing I found.  (Cole's hand safely at a distance but in the frame for reference to point out size)

Then a casualty.  My 9 year old back up sandals had a failure.  And let me tell you that bottom layer does a lot. Shoulda remembered my Chacos when I left the house this morning.

It was a good day overall on the creek.  With some fun boys.  Blessed for the time with them today.

Quote of the day?  As Cole and I sat and studied some fish or some snails or something we found in the water Cooper came over and as he got near he stumbled a little and splashed almost face first into the water.  As he righted himself He said.  "I came to join the party."  Hilarious.

I couldn't have done it with out party boy Coop and Turtle wrangler Cole.  You guys are the bestest.

Oh and my iphone.  As much as you are taking over the planet…apple, you do make a good phone with a pretty fine camera.  Props.

AND PRAISE THE LORD ALMIGHTY… NO.  I repeat NO snakes were seen today.  Glory in the Highest.  And answer to continual prayer.  seriously.
