available for Him- His purpose, His glory

Would it be better to have a lot of ministries with a few folks involved in each or a few ministries with a lot of folks involved?

I know the question leaves some “if’s” out there. Just tell me what you think- cover whatever “if’s” you want.

Just trying to be good steward of what I have been given and want to get some thoughts.

Well, not sure this is going to totally answer that question but I think it depends on the ministry, and what the ultimate goal is for that ministry.
You actually have asked the age old question of society… if you had a million dollars to give away, would it be more beneficial to give 5,000 people $200 each, or 5 people $200,000 each.
The answer to that question… it depends. 🙂
Is it $200 to someone in Uganda where $200 would be an enormous amount of money, or someone in Auburn, that probably spends that much in three tanks of gas in less than a month?
I don’t think that was much help, but that’s my take.

I agree that it depends on the ministries. I think a consideration is the diversity of gifts needed to serve in those ministries and the frequency of opportunities. People have such a variety of gifts — building things, cooking for people, working with children, being a good communicator either as a talker or as a listener, and/or being a behinds-the-scene person — stuffing envelopes, cleaning up, etc. Also, people’s availability to serve differs, some are best available during the day, some at night, some on the weekends, some for days at a time. So, ministries that utilize multiple types of gifts is important but may be hard to identify. It’s easier to sustain a ministry when more people are involved; people enjoy the fellowship and there are enough people to cover the need when some of the people are not available. So, striking that balance between many or few is difficult, hence your quesion, I guess!
