I wanted to tell you a little story from yesterday…
In KidzTown we have been bringing our offering all of April for the Well. We have seen pictures, picked up a five gallon water jug to see how heavy that water is, and heard a lot of questions from kids. The kids are excited that they can help kids half way around the world. Then the pig came to KidzTown.
When Jason Chandler got up to do music a little kindergartener came over to me and asked me to hold her piggy bank- complete with pink tutu and silver tiara. I did. After drama and prayer kids came forward to put their money in the offering. And over came the pig- with a lot of money in it. The little girl shook and wiggled the pig to get the change out…by this point all the other kids were in class. I asked her how long she had been saving up "16 years" was her reply. She then changed her answer and said "for awhile." She told me "I told my mom and dad that this is what I wanted to do with it." I told her she rocked the house a few times while she worked on getting the bills out of the pig (it took a little work). As I was putting the plug back in the pig, she looked up at me with a big smile on her face and said "I rock the house!" Indeed.
Oh how I learn so much from our kids each week. Their willingness to share with those they don’t know and how they connect with something that they can’t fully understand. But they do understand that they can help someone and they continually step up to the challenge. If what I have seen in KidzTown the last few weeks is any indication…this coming Sunday is going to be good. God is doing work through His people and His glory is amazing…
Have a great week and keep being Fluid.
I just spoke with Katherine’s mom- she has been saving this money for a year. Oh the heart of a child…
