So I thought I would take a moment to talk about my journey in this FLUID series. As a lot of you know, I had the amazing opportunity to share the opening "sermon" around the well and the wonderful story of Jesus with the Samaritan woman in John 4. I have been thankful and humbled by the comments I have heard from folks through conversations, emails, and folks in random places. But I have run into a problem.
Here’s the problem- when you say something out in front of six to seven hundred people, they hear you sometimes. And when they hear you, they expect you to do what you say. One of the things people heard was "I am trying to step out and say ‘hi’ to people." That may not sound like a big deal to you, to me and my typical introverted nature when talking to strangers, it’s a big deal. I have literally had people in random stores say "are you andi? I just wanted to say ‘hi’" It’s funny. It is a challenge. I say Hi to the check out people at Wal Mart, the greeters at the door, the folks working at Target in the aisle…but do I now need to say "Hi" to everyone in every aisle? I don’t want to leave anyone out! It is like I am living in the middle of Auburn’s "Hey Day" everyday (do they even do that anymore?).
I guess what I am trying to see is that there are a LOT of people out there that I have begun to really notice EVERYWHERE. It makes me really realize again how BIG God is that He can keep up with EVERYONE of us! It makes me wish that I had more time to walk slower and get to know those people better somehow. I have realized how busy my world is. Even with a "church job" things get scattered and the to do list gets long. But that is what makes God so great- I turn my to do list over to Him and as my prayer partner says all the time He orders it each day and "not one thing more or one thing less gets done" other than what God wants. (that is the loose version of what she says…i kindly request a direct quote in the comments section if correction needs to be made).
So, please join me as we all make ourselves FLUID- available to God to do His thing through us, and to allow Him to put that time on our To Do list that often seems too crowded.
